Install compizconfig-settings-manager if you haven't already (in synaptic). Go into Preferences->Advanced Desktop-Effects. Find Window Decoration and make sure it's ticked. Go into it. In the Command box type "Emerald". See if that fixes things. Are u using Kde/Gnome? Btw in my opinion kde does not blend too well with compiz. I normally don't use kde. There is a package for kde in the package manager (compiz-fusion-manager-kde or something like that). Install it and try @Mikey
